Photographer's Notes - Mountain/Vanilla Fudge:

You may have noticed that this is my second gallery featuring Mountain. While these guys haven't quite achieved the widespread popularity of other bands that performed at Woodstock, Leslie West and Corky Laing are musician's musicians. They are incredibly well respected in the industry, as witnessed by a recent guest appearance by Eddie Van Halen at a recent LA House of Blues concert.

I think their popularity comes as much from the music as well as their personalities. I have had the distinct pleasure of hanging out with these guys on several occasions and you'd be amazed by the stories and quick wit. It's no surprise that Les is a frequent guest on Howard Stern, as his East Coast demeanor is immediately apparent.

Don't be fooled these can still rock! We're talkin' Mississippi Queen, if you know what I mean! I have rarely seen a crowd more dedicated, as it seemed just about everyone had an old Mountain vinyl album under their arm. Les, Corky and Ritchie didn't disappoint as they stayed late and signed every piece of memorabilia given to them. These guys know how to please and I highly recommend seeing them if they come to your town.

Quick footnote: This was a double bill with the Legendary Vanilla Fudge. Drummer Carmine Appice and bassist Tim Bogert played with Jeff Beck on several of his albums. Talk about virtuosity! I might post these pictures in the near future.
